The term PTSD should be referred to as PTSI (Post Traumatic Stress Injury). Advanced neuro-imaging (fMRI) can now detect observable change in the human brain caused by severe psychological trauma. Likewise, it can also be detected<\/span> in animals \u2014\u00a0 the term, \u201cVeterinary PTSD\u201d (vs. PTSD).<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 2006, Dr. Lipov became first physician to treat a patient suffering from PTSD\/PTSI with an injection of an anesthetic to the stellate ganglion, a cluster of nerves in the neck. The procedure, Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB), and its more advanced version, Dual Sympathetic Reset (DSR), resets the body\u2019s \u201cfight or flight\u201d response. Clinical experience and published research suggest that SGB\/DSR may produce rapid symptom reduction in many patients with trauma-related sympathetic overactivation. Outcomes vary, and patients should consult qualified medical professionals to determine whether the procedure is appropriate.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Epigenetics is the study of how our behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way our genes work. With a degree in molecular genetics, Dr. Lipov currently serves as a principal investigator in a clinical study that aims to evaluate epigenetic changes that can occur due to military trauma in Special Forces soldiers, and posits that changes can be reversed by effective treatment. As a precursor<\/span> to the the study, Dr. Lipov recently authored a paper about the use of stellate ganglion block (SGB) to reverse changes in DNA that occur due to trauma. The paper has, since, been published in peer-reviewed medical journals.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Un trauma puede dejar una marca qu\u00edmica en los genes de una persona, que puede transmitirse de generaci\u00f3n en generaci\u00f3n. Dr. Lipov\u2019s pioneering use of stellate ganglion block began roughly 20 years ago when he treated a menopausal breast cancer survivor who was experiencing severe hot flashes. His patient was prevented from using hormone therapy, typically used to mitigate hot flashes in menopausal women, because of\u00a0 the cancer treatment she was receiving. Las mujeres con antecedentes de c\u00e1ncer de mama no pueden tomar estr\u00f3geno, un tratamiento eficaz para los sofocos. El bloqueo del ganglio estrellado puede reducirlos considerablemente. Las mujeres con c\u00e1ncer de mama deben tomar un bloqueador de estr\u00f3genos durante cinco a\u00f1os para reducir la tasa de recurrencia del c\u00e1ncer en un 35%. El s\u00edndrome de COVID persistente se ha tratado mediante bloqueo del ganglio estrellado (BGE).
